Yay! The semester is almost over! I hope preparations for finals are going well and that everyone is still getting enough sleep. For Friday, remember to bring your notebook entries (please staple these) if you haven’t given them to me already. Also, if you have any assignments that I don’t have in my grade book, attach them to that printout I gave today and turn them in. This has been a great semester and I have enjoyed having you all in class!

On Predicting Violence

For Wednesday 4/18, please bring in a copy of song lyrics to analyze and share with the class. For Friday, 4/20, you will need to read Taylor Mali’s “Totally Like Whatever, You Know?” (Wood 444) and write a two page response. Base your response on the “For Discussion” questions that directly follow the poem on page 445. Remember to use proper MLA format. 

For Monday please read “A Modest Proposal” (Swift), which is on page 453 of your textbook. Also, don’t forget to read Ch. 14. Have a great weekend, all!

The due date for your researched position paper has been moved from Monday, 4/9, to Wednesday, 4/11. Please bring your HANDBOOKS to class for Friday, along with any tricky citations you have.

You should include the following elements in your 1 -page, double-spaced process summary:

1. What you enjoyed about this project

2. What you struggled with throughout this process

3. What you learned about yourself as a writer from this process

Your second draft, which is listed as due Friday, 3/30, has been moved to Monday, 4/2. You will need to have 7-10 pages for this draft plus your works cited page.

For Monday after break you need to bring in an outline for your Researched Position Paper. Look at the example on page 340-41 to get an idea of what you need to include. You do not HAVE to structure your paper with this exact structure, but it is a good model to follow. Also, this assignment is on p. 347 A. 1. Please use an MLA format with this assignment in regard to margins, font, and the header. Hope everyone has a great break!
